Tl dr just wanted some feedback about PC-Doctor, and yes I am in the OEM field.įrom my experience and the people I work with, that usually wont cover an enough in depth scan plus it never covers the PCIe cards. Thus all they usually provide is just generic RAM tests, SMART scans, cpu testing and anything else that can be called generic. One of the issues with this type of "multi tool" testing software, is that they never accommodate for vendor specific tests, such as testing link integrity on certain LSI cards (checking that all 4 lanes on a mini SAS HD connector sync up to 6Gbit) or are capable of measuring infiniband speeds via an external loopback etc etc That is why I was wondering about PC-Doctor, which got the attention of my management, but I have never heard of it before and it generally seems a bit sketchy. I have no need in long term monitoring of the systems as I pass them on after all that is done, what I do need are efficient tools for stress testing (a sweet spot between not too long but still effective at weeding out problems). So essentially other than the physical assembly, it can all be automated (which it mostly is already). I then need the systems configured to a certain spec (in terms of hardware), then have certain firmwares burned on all the cards, then configure all the settings and stress test the system. What I do is get a bunch of systems, usually as I mentioned, multiple CPUs, high RAM capacity and a bunch of PCIe cards from all types and vendors, depending on the systems application.
